"What?" I think: "electric motor?! pump?!" And then I get it, the piece is moving. And suddenly, my whole conception changes. I love it. This gets me excited. Hidden mechanisms, moving tension, flowing, barely perceptible fluid ink. Kinetic sculpture. Amazing. Paradigm-moving. This is the second Charles Ray piece that I've written about on this blog, the first, "Hinoki," I saw at the Art Institute of Chicago and remember thinking to myself about art in general: "this is the only game in town."
